Why this stone is listed on its own

Every piece is photographed separately because colour and pattern vary stone to stone. The image on this page is this stone, not a stand-in.

What decides the price

Colour (clean, even sky blue is most valued), origin (Nishapuri Feroza carries a premium), matrix pattern, size and whether it is natural, stabilised or reconstituted Current market rates for every stone we carry are in our gemstone price guide, and the rest of this collection is at Feroza (Turquoise).

Checking the stone before you pay

Hold it against a white background in daylight to judge colour honestly, look through a 10x loupe for growth features and small natural inclusions (glass shows round bubbles and swirl lines instead), and ask for the weight on a scale in front of you. For anything expensive, a report from an independent gemmological laboratory is the only way to be certain of the species and any treatment.

Who wears it

Jupiter in some traditions. It is traditionally worn on a ring on the right hand or a pendant, set in silver, and kept away from perfume and water These are traditions rather than tested effects; what we stand behind is the stone itself.

Care

Feroza is porous and soft — put it on after perfume and lotion, keep it dry, and wipe with a soft dry cloth only. Never soak it.
