Short answer: Natural gemstones cost between Rs 80 and Rs 57,000 per carat in Pakistan, depending on the stone, origin, size and clarity — from large moss agate (shajri aqeeq) at the low end to fine Ceylon sapphire (neelam) and Mozambique ruby (yaqoot) at the top. The table below is worked out from the 1037 stones listed on GemStore.pk, not from a dealer's rate card.

October 2026 edition. These figures are recalculated from our listings once a month; the price of any individual stone is always the one on its own page.

Per-carat figures divide each stone's listed price by its weight and show the lowest and highest result within the collection. Per-ratti figures use the standard gem ratti of 0.91 carat (about 0.182 g); convert any weight with the carat to ratti converter. Starting points: Sapphire from Rs 4,100, Opal from Rs 3,000, Ruby from Rs 6,000, Lapis Lazuli from Rs 2,000, Yellow Sapphire from Rs 8,000, Amethyst from Rs 4,500.

Six things that set a gemstone's price

  1. Colour. For neelam, yaqoot and zamurd this outweighs everything else. Rich, even colour costs the most; washed-out or very dark stones much less.
  2. Size. Price per carat climbs as stones get bigger, because clean large rough is scarce. Doubling the weight usually more than doubles the price.
  3. Clarity. Stones that look clean to the eye are worth more. Emerald is the exception that proves the rule: some inclusions are expected.
  4. Treatment. An unheated, unfilled, undyed stone is worth far more than a treated one of the same look. We disclose the treatments normal for each gem on its page.
  5. Origin. Names like Kashmir, Ceylon, Burma, Colombia and Swat carry a premium. That premium should come with paperwork.
  6. Cut. Good proportions return more light. A badly cut stone is discounted even when the rough was fine.

Why two "neelam" can be twenty times apart

"Neelam" or "yaqoot" names a family of stones, not a quality. A commercial three-carat blue sapphire and a top-colour Ceylon stone of the same weight live in different price worlds. That is why GemStore prices each stone on its own and shows its weight, origin and photographs — so you can see what the money is buying.

Comparing quotes without getting burned

  • Work in price per carat; it takes size out of the comparison.
  • Ask in writing whether the stone is natural and whether it has been treated. We provide a certificate on request.
  • Prefer sellers who let you inspect before paying and who accept returns. With us that is Cash on Delivery and 7 days to send a stone back unused.
  • Treat a famous origin at an ordinary price as a red flag unless a lab report backs it.

What does a neelam (blue sapphire) cost in Pakistan?

At GemStore, natural blue sapphire (neelam) runs from Rs 4,100 to Rs 165,000 across 160 stones, with a typical stone at about Rs 19,000. Weight, colour, clarity and origin explain the spread. The middle price per carat is around Rs 5,000.

What does a ruby (yaqoot) cost in Pakistan?

At GemStore, natural ruby (yaqoot) runs from Rs 6,000 to Rs 96,000 across 60 stones, with a typical stone at about Rs 14,500. Weight, colour, clarity and origin explain the spread. The middle price per carat is around Rs 3,300.

Which natural gemstone is the most affordable?

Among the stones we list, Hematite has the lowest starting price at Rs 1,100. In general aqeeq, dur-e-najaf, amethyst and citrine are the gentlest on the budget, while sapphire, ruby and emerald sit at the top.

Is the price per carat or for the whole stone?

Each listing's price is for the whole stone. In the table, the Lowest, Typical and Highest columns are per-stone prices, and the last column is the per-carat range across that collection. Every product page also states the stone's exact weight.

What else will I pay on top of the stone?

Only delivery: a flat Rs. 500 per order, by insured and tracked courier. You pay in cash when the parcel arrives, a certificate is available on request, and you have 7 days to return an unused stone.
