Lapis Lazuli 5 Carat: the facts

What 5 carat looks like on the hand

Carat is weight, not width, so a 5-carat lapis lazuli reads larger in a shallow cut than in a deep one. At this weight the stone suits an everyday ring in silver or gold without sitting awkwardly high on the finger. If you think in ratti rather than carat, our ratti to carat guide converts it.

Why the price sits where it does

Depth of blue (even ultramarine with little white calcite is most valued), pyrite distribution, size and polish; Afghan lapis is the benchmark At PKR 500 per carat this piece is priced for everyday wear rather than collection quality, which is what most buyers want in this size. Compare it against the current market in our gemstone price guide for Pakistan.

Who wears it

Jupiter and Saturn in different traditions; worn for wisdom and calm It is traditionally worn on a pendant, ring or bracelet in silver; avoid daily hard wear These attributions come from tradition rather than tested effect, and we sell the stone for what it verifiably is: a natural lapis lazuli of 5 carat.

Care

Lapis is porous — keep it away from water, perfume and acids, and wipe with a soft dry cloth.
