For two centuries Bahawalpur was the capital of a princely state ruled by the Abbasi nawabs, and its palaces still give the city a sense of old grandeur, with the Cholistan desert stretching away to the south and east. Courtly jewellery set with rubies, emeralds and pearls was part of that world, as it was across the subcontinent, and fine stones still carry a feeling of heritage here. GemStore sends natural, individually photographed stones to Bahawalpur by insured, tracked courier with Cash on Delivery.

Matching or restoring a family piece

Bahawalpur families sometimes want to replace a lost stone in an old necklace or ring, or match one stone to its partner. Here is how we can help:

  1. Send a clear photo on WhatsApp, taken in daylight, with the setting's size in millimetres if you can measure it.
  2. Tell us the colour you want to match and your budget.
  3. We look through current stock and send photographs and weights of stones that may suit.
  4. You compare and choose. Each listing is one stone photographed as it is, so what you choose is what arrives.

Your family jeweller can then set the stone. If you would like us to discuss a custom silver ring setting instead, message us on WhatsApp.

The courtly stones

  • Yaqoot (ruby): prized for its red, and traditionally the stone of the Sun.
  • Zamurd (emerald): the green of Mughal-era jewellery, traditionally linked with Mercury.
  • Moti (pearl): long used in necklaces and turban ornaments, and associated with the Moon.
  • Neelam and pukhraj: the two most requested astrological stones in Punjab.
  • Garnet and topaz: rich colour at a gentler budget, good for gifts.

Heritage pieces deserve honest descriptions. A "Burma ruby" or "Colombian emerald" without a laboratory report is a claim, not a fact, and we state origin only where it can be supported.

Devotional and everyday ring stones

Bahawalpur shares the shrine culture of southern Punjab, and many people wear an aqeeq, feroza or dur-e-najaf ring. These are also the most imitated stones: dyed chalcedony for aqeeq, reconstituted or dyed material for feroza, and glass for dur-e-najaf. We sell natural stones only, and each listing says whether a stone is treated or stabilised. The meanings of these stones are traditions and matters of faith, and we present them as such.

Astrological stones

If you have been advised to wear a particular stone, send the recommendation and your budget on WhatsApp. The gemstones by rashi guide explains the traditional stone for each moon sign. We cannot promise any astrological result; we can promise the stone is natural and correctly described.
