Natural Labradorite Stone in Pakistan
Labradorite is a grey to dark feldspar that suddenly flashes peacock blue, green, gold and sometimes orange as you turn it, an effect called labradorescence. Every labradorite here is a single natural cabochon, photographed as it is and priced individually, and chosen for the strength of its flash.

Where the flash comes from
Labradorite's colours are not pigment. They are produced by light bouncing between extremely thin layers inside the crystal, much like the colours on a soap bubble. The effect only shows at certain angles, so a cutter has to orient the stone carefully and usually shapes it into a smooth oval or round cabochon with the flash facing up.
Quality checklist
- Flash colour - strong blue and green are popular; stones showing gold, orange, pink or purple too are especially sought-after.
- Coverage - the more of the face that lights up, the better.
- Intensity - a bright, electric flash beats a faint, patchy one.
- Body and surface - a darker body often shows colour more vividly; check for cracks or a dull polish.
- Size and shape - a symmetrical, well-domed cabochon looks best in a ring or pendant.
Prices reflect these points. Each listing is one stone, so the per-carat rate is price divided by carat weight.
Spectrolite and sources
Labradorite is named after Labrador in Canada, where it was described for science. Today much gem-quality material comes from Madagascar, while Finland is known for an especially colourful type traded as spectrolite, which can show the full spectrum. Where we know the origin, we say so.
Natural or imitation?
Real labradorite shows a flash that switches on and off as you tilt the stone; the colour moves. Imitations made of coated glass or painted backs show colour from every angle and look static. A certificate of authenticity is available on request if you want confirmation.
Belief and tradition
In modern crystal lore, labradorite is regarded as a stone of magic and protection, believed to strengthen intuition and shield the wearer's energy. These are beliefs rather than guaranteed effects, and many buyers simply love the light show.
Caring for labradorite
At about 6 to 6.5 on the Mohs scale and with cleavage planes, labradorite can chip if struck. Clean it with mild soapy water, avoid ultrasonic cleaners, and store it separately from harder gems.
