Multan, the City of Saints, has a deep tradition of devotional and protective ring stones. Aqeeq, feroza, dur-e-najaf and hadeed are worn across the city, alongside the astrological neelam, pukhraj and yaqoot. They are also the stones most often faked. GemStore sends natural, individually photographed stones to Multan and southern Punjab by insured courier, and you pay only after you have seen the stone.

Spotting dyed aqeeq and imitation feroza

Because aqeeq and feroza are bought in such numbers, the market is full of dyed chalcedony, reconstituted turquoise and plain glass. A few signs to look for:

StoneSigns of natural materialWarning signs
AqeeqSoft, slightly uneven colour; fine natural bandingFlat, very bright colour; colour gathered in cracks or along the drill hole
FerozaNatural variation in colour and matrixPerfectly even blue; a "matrix" that looks painted on; very low price for a large stone
Dur-e-najafLooks like clear rock crystal, may show natural inclusionsRound gas bubbles, which point to glass

Some feroza on the market is stabilised, which is a common and accepted treatment when it is disclosed. Our listings state it. The real vs fake gemstones guide has more checks, and a lab can confirm what home tests can only suggest.

Devotional and traditional stones we stock

Depending on current stock, we carry natural aqeeq (including Yemeni, Sulemani and Shajri types), dur-e-najaf, feroza and moti, each priced individually by weight and grade. Customers buying for a shrine visit or as gifts often want matching pairs. Message us on WhatsApp with the colour and size you want and we will send photographs of suitable stones from stock. The significance of these stones is a matter of tradition and faith, and we describe them that way.

The precious stones

Multan's traders and landowning families have long bought the classic astrological stones as well:

Local choice of these stones is often limited, and written treatment details are uncommon. Each GemStore listing is one natural stone, photographed as it is, with known treatments disclosed. A certificate of authenticity is available on request and independent lab testing can be arranged. See our authenticity page, the rashi guide for traditional pairings, and the Urdu and English names page.

Before you pay anyone

  1. Look at the stone in daylight, outside the shop if you can.
  2. Ask whether it is dyed, stabilised or otherwise treated, and get the answer in writing.
  3. Get the carat weight and work out the per-carat rate.
  4. Be wary of a bright, perfect stone at a bargain price.

Common questions

Something else on your mind? Ask us directly — we answer on WhatsApp during working hours.

How can I tell real aqeeq from dyed stone?

Natural aqeeq has soft, slightly uneven colour and fine banding. Flat, very bright colour or colour gathered in cracks often points to dye; a lab can confirm it.

Is your feroza natural or stabilised?

Each feroza listing states whether the stone is natural or stabilised. Stabilisation is a common treatment and we disclose it when known.

Can I get a matching pair of stones?

Often, yes. Tell us the colour and size on WhatsApp and we will send photographs of suitable stones from current stock.

Do you deliver outside Multan city?

Yes. We deliver across southern Punjab, including Khanewal, Muzaffargarh and Dera Ghazi Khan, within about 7 working days.

How do I pay in Multan?

Cash on Delivery after inspecting the stone. Shipping is a flat Rs. 500 per order.
