Natural gemstones for Mirpur and the towns of southern Azad Kashmir, delivered with Cash on Delivery.

Mirpur is the largest city in southern Azad Kashmir, set on the shores of the Mangla reservoir. When Mangla Dam was built in the 1960s, the old town of Mirpur went under the water, and the new city was laid out on higher ground. Today it is known for its wide roads, large family homes and a strong culture of weddings and gift-giving, with gold and gemstone jewellery at the centre of many celebrations. GemStore is an online store based in Lahore. We do not have a shop in Mirpur, but we deliver natural stones across Mirpur division by insured courier, and you inspect the stone before paying.

Stones Mirpur buyers choose, and why

Requests from Mirpur often involve bridal sets and larger stones, along with the usual astrological favourites:

  • Neelam: Kashmir's name is tied to blue sapphire in the trade, though true Kashmir neelam is rare and needs a laboratory to confirm. In Vedic astrology neelam is the Saturn stone.
  • Yaqoot and zamurd: the red and green of wedding jewellery.
  • Pukhraj: the Jupiter stone by tradition, often gifted at a nikah.
  • Moti: classic for brides and for women's pendants, traditionally linked with the Moon.
  • Aqeeq and feroza: everyday ring stones with deep roots in Muslim custom.

These meanings are traditions and beliefs; we cannot promise results. For wedding ideas, see nikah and wedding gemstone gifts.

Checking a stone in Mirpur

Mirpur's jewellers do a large wedding trade, and stones are usually sold already set. That makes careful checking harder. Some habits that help:

  1. Be careful with the word "Kashmiri". Kashmir sapphire is among the rarest in the world. A "Kashmir neelam" without a laboratory report is a sales phrase, not a fact. Our sapphire origins guide explains why.
  2. Ask to see stones loose. A setting can hide chips, foil backing or a shallow stone.
  3. Get treatment stated. Heating is normal for sapphire and ruby when disclosed. Glass filling and dyeing are not acceptable as "natural".
  4. Agree the weight unit. The gemstone ratti is 0.91 carat; the jeweller's sunari ratti is about 0.61 carat. The carat to ratti converter shows the difference.

Delivery to Mirpur and nearby towns

We dispatch from Lahore within 1 to 2 working days, and the insured, tracked courier delivers within about 7 working days. We cover Mirpur city and all its sectors, and Dadyal, Chakswari, Islamgarh, Kotli, Bhimber and Samahni, as well as Dina and Jhelum on the Punjab side. Delivery to remote villages depends on courier coverage, so message us if you are unsure. Charges are set out in our shipping policy, and the delivery page explains tracking and packaging.

Cash on Delivery and inspection

Cash on Delivery works in Mirpur as it does elsewhere. Open the parcel in front of the rider, compare the stone with the photographs on its listing, and pay only if you are satisfied. Each GemStore listing is one stone, photographed and priced on its own. For a wedding with a fixed date, message us on WhatsApp before ordering so we can confirm the timing. Our budget filters include stones over 50,000 rupees for a major gift.

Certificates, setting and returns

Every stone we sell is natural, with known treatments disclosed. A certificate is available on request, and independent lab testing can be arranged; the authenticity page explains how. For rings, see our stone setting service. Unused stones may be returned within 7 days of delivery under the return policy.

Gifts for family returning home

Mirpur families often gather for weddings and Eid, and relatives coming home look for a gift that carries meaning. A pearl pendant for a mother, a pukhraj or yaqoot ring for a father, or a feroza for a child are well-loved choices. Order early if a gathering has a fixed date, because the courier timeline is about 7 working days. Our gemstone gifts guide sorts ideas by budget.
