Gujranwala sits on the GT Road north of Lahore, in a busy belt of Punjab towns that runs on towards Wazirabad, Gujrat and Jhelum. It is a city of workshops, family businesses and big wedding seasons, and in GT Road families a gemstone is often bought for an occasion rather than on a whim. GemStore sends natural stones to Gujranwala by insured, tracked courier with Cash on Delivery. This page is a practical guide to choosing a stone for the moments that matter.

Choosing a stone by occasion

OccasionStones traditionally chosenPractical tip
A groom's ringYaqoot (ruby), neelam (blue sapphire), aqeeqRuby and sapphire are very hard and suit a ring worn every day
A bride's pendant or setZamurd (emerald), moti (pearl), rubyEmerald is happiest in a pendant or earrings, away from knocks
A gift for parentsPukhraj (yellow sapphire), feroza, aqeeqAsk what they already wear; many elders follow an astrologer's advice
Eid or a new jobAqeeq, feroza, opalA good-value natural stone is better than an expensive doubtful one

The meanings attached to these stones come from custom and astrology. They are beliefs, and we cannot promise any result. Our gemstones by rashi guide covers the traditional pairings, and the Urdu and English gemstone names page explains the terms.

Buying matching stones

Wedding sets and gifts for several family members often need stones that match in colour and size. Tell us on WhatsApp how many stones you need, the colour and your budget, and we will send photographs and weights of suitable stones from current stock. Because each listing is one individual stone photographed as it is, you can compare them before you order. Shipping is a flat Rs. 500 per order, so several stones in one parcel cost no more to send than one.

Gold shop or gem specialist?

A jeweller in a Gujranwala bazaar is usually an expert in gold first. Precious stones such as neelam, pukhraj and yaqoot are often bought in from wholesalers, and the customer rarely sees the carat weight, the treatment or a laboratory report in writing. That is simply how a gold-led trade works. With GemStore:

  • Every stone is natural, and we inspect each one before it is listed.
  • Known treatments, such as heating of sapphire and ruby, are disclosed.
  • Every stone is priced individually; the per-carat rate is the price divided by the weight.
  • A certificate of authenticity is available on request, and independent lab testing can be arranged. See our authenticity page.

Checking a stone in a busy bazaar

  • Daylight. Spotlights make glass and dyed stones look better than they are.
  • Weight in carats. A price "per piece" or "per ratti" without an exact weight is hard to compare.
  • Treatment in writing. Most sapphires and rubies are heated; that is normal, but it should be stated.
  • A reference price. Compare the per-carat rate with our listings, where each listing shows the price of that individual stone.
