Sialkot makes things the world inspects closely. Surgical instruments, footballs, sports goods and leather from the city's workshops are shipped worldwide against strict specifications, and the city is also known as the birthplace of Allama Iqbal. That eye for detail is exactly the right way to buy a gemstone. GemStore delivers natural stones to Sialkot by insured, tracked courier with Cash on Delivery, and this page shows how to "spec" a stone before you pay for it.
A gemstone specification sheet
An export order comes with a spec, a sample and a quality check. A gemstone deserves the same. Before you buy any stone, from us or anyone else, you should be able to fill in this sheet:
| Item | What to ask for | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Species | The stone's real identity, e.g. "corundum (blue sapphire)" | Trade names such as "neelam" are used loosely |
| Weight | Exact carats, to two decimals | "About five ratti" cannot be checked |
| Per-carat rate | Price ÷ carat weight | The only fair way to compare offers |
| Natural or synthetic | A clear written statement | Lab-grown stones can look perfect |
| Treatment | Heating, oiling, filling, dyeing, if any | Heating is normal; glass filling at natural prices is not |
| Documentation | Certificate, or an independent lab report for a valuable stone | It is your evidence if a question arises later |
Each GemStore listing is one individual natural stone, photographed as it is and priced on its own. We inspect every stone, disclose known treatments, and provide a certificate of authenticity on request; independent lab testing can be arranged if you ask. Our authenticity page explains each document.
"Kashmir neelam" and other origin names
Sialkot is close to the Kashmir border, and the name "Kashmir sapphire" carries a lot of romance locally. Genuine Kashmir sapphires came mainly from a short burst of mining in the 1880s and are now extremely rare; most stones sold under that name are from somewhere else entirely. The same caution applies to "Burma yaqoot" and "Colombian zamurd". Origin can only be confirmed by a recognised laboratory, so treat an origin claim without a report as a description, not a fact. We state origin only where it can be supported.
Stones Sialkot customers ask about
- Neelam (blue sapphire): traditionally Saturn's stone, popular with business owners.
- Yaqoot (ruby): the traditional Sun stone and a classic men's ring.
- Zamurd (emerald): associated with Mercury, and traditionally with trade.
- Pukhraj (yellow sapphire): Jupiter's stone in Vedic tradition.
- Feroza and aqeeq for traditional rings.
- Opal, topaz and amethyst for gifts and fashion jewellery.
Astrological associations are traditions and beliefs; we do not promise outcomes. See our rashi guide and the gemstone names page.
Gifts for clients and family
Many Sialkot businesses give gifts to clients and family, and a genuine, natural stone with its paperwork is an easy gift to explain. Tell us the budget and the recipient on WhatsApp and we will suggest stones from current stock, each with its own photographs and weight. We deliver within Pakistan only. Each product page shows the price of that individual stone.
