Natural stones for Larkana and the towns of the right bank of the Indus, sent from Lahore with Cash on Delivery.

Larkana lies on the right bank of the Indus in a fertile belt of rice fields and guava orchards, fed by canals from the Sukkur Barrage. A short drive away are the ruins of Mohenjo-daro, one of the great cities of the Indus Valley Civilisation. The people who lived there were skilled bead makers, and long carnelian beads, drilled by hand, are among the best-known finds from Indus sites. In other words, people in this part of Sindh were cutting and wearing agate thousands of years before anyone sold a ring stone online. GemStore is an online store based in Lahore; we have no shop in Larkana, but we deliver natural stones there by insured courier with Cash on Delivery.

What Larkana buyers wear, and why

Ring stones here are chosen mostly for faith, family custom and astrology, and the same names come up again and again:

  • Aqeeq and red agate: carnelian's modern cousins, worn by many men in silver. The colour should be even and warm, not a flat painted red.
  • Marjan (red coral): traditionally linked with Mars in Vedic astrology, and often recommended for courage and energy.
  • Pukhraj: the stone of Jupiter in the same tradition, commonly chosen around marriage and study.
  • Neelam: the Saturn stone, which astrologers usually advise trying with care before wearing long term.
  • Sulemani aqeeq: the banded black-and-white agate many families treat as a protective stone.

All of these are beliefs and customs. We describe them honestly but cannot promise results, and religious questions are best put to a scholar you trust.

How to check a stone in Larkana's bazaars

Larkana's jewellers and the stone sellers near the main bazaar stock plenty of aqeeq and marjan, and both are among the most imitated materials in Pakistan. Before paying anyone:

  • Look for dye in the cracks. Dyed agate often shows darker colour gathered along fine fractures. Natural colour sits evenly through the stone.
  • Check marjan closely. Natural coral shows fine parallel grain lines. Plastic and glass imitations look too smooth and too uniform.
  • Weigh in carats or the standard ratti. The gemstone ratti is 0.91 carat; the sunari ratti used by goldsmiths is about 0.61 carat. A quote that does not say which ratti is not a quote you can compare. Our carat to ratti converter helps.
  • Ask for the treatment in plain words. If the seller will not say, assume the stone is treated.

Delivery to Larkana and nearby towns

Orders leave Lahore within 1 to 2 working days by insured, tracked courier and reach Larkana within about 7 working days. We deliver across the city and to Kambar, Shahdadkot, Ratodero, Naudero, Dokri, Bakrani and Warah, as well as on to Jacobabad and Mehar. You get a tracking number when the parcel leaves. Delivery charges are listed in our shipping policy, and gemstone delivery across Pakistan explains how stones are packed.

Cash on Delivery and inspection

With Cash on Delivery you pay nothing in advance. When the rider comes, open the parcel, compare the stone with the photographs on its listing and only then hand over the money. Each listing is one individual stone, photographed and priced on its own. If you would rather talk before ordering, send us your budget or the stone your astrologer named on WhatsApp, and we will send photographs and weights of suitable stones. Budget filters help too: try stones between 5,000 and 20,000 rupees.

Certificates and returns

Every stone we sell is natural, with known treatments disclosed. A certificate is available on request and independent lab testing can be arranged; see the authenticity page. If the stone does not suit you, you have 7 days from delivery to return it unused for a refund or exchange under our return policy.

Choosing a stone for a family occasion

In Larkana a ring stone is often bought for a moment: a son's first job, a return from Ziarat, or a nikah. If the stone is a gift, tell us who it is for and the budget, and we will suggest choices that suit the person rather than simply the most expensive item. The which gemstone to wear page and our guide to gemstone gifts are good places to start.
