What the lab checks on blue sapphire
- Heating: the lab studies the silk (fine needles) and crystal inclusions. Heat dissolves silk and leaves altered inclusions with tell-tale halos.
- Diffusion: beryllium or titanium diffused into the surface to add colour. Advanced instruments detect this.
- Glass filling: fractures filled with lead glass, seen under magnification as flash effects and gas bubbles.
- Synthetics: flame-fusion stones show curved growth lines and round bubbles; flux-grown stones show flux residue.
Some labs also give an origin opinion for sapphire.
How to request a report
Pick any stone from our blue sapphire collection and send its link on WhatsApp +92 308 887 3888. We explain the testing steps for that stone, and you see the report before you pay. The same applies to yellow sapphire, purple sapphire and tanzanite. Read more on lab-certified gemstones.
