Description
Yashab is the Urdu name for jade, a stone that has been worked and carried across Asia for a very long time, and in Pakistani gem shops it is usually bought for its calm green colour. Some buyers also like it because tradition holds it to be a soothing stone, though that is a matter of belief and not something we can promise. The names are collected on our gemstone names page.
This yashab weighs 5.95 carats and shows a soft, even apple green. The price is Rs. 3,570, which is about Rs. 600 per carat. Quote GS-JD-0003 when you write to us.
Jade sits at 6 to 7 on the Mohs scale and resists chipping better than many softer stones, since its crystals grow interlocked. It can still be dyed or polymer-impregnated, and stones without such treatment generally cost more, so ask us on +92 308 887 3888 what we know about this one. Keep it away from perfume and strong cleaners. Similar stones are in our jade section.

This particular stone
This listing is one natural jade, known in Urdu as Yashab, with a weight of 5.95 Carat. Its price is Rs. 3,570 — roughly Rs. 600 for each carat. Origin: Pakistan. Treatment: treatment not tested. Quote reference GS-JD-0003 when you message us about it. The photographs show this exact stone, so what arrives at your door is the piece you chose on screen.
Between two and six carats is the range most people choose for a gents' ring or a noticeable pendant. Here colour drives the price more than size does, which is why two stones of near-identical weight can be priced very differently.
On the Mohs scale jade rates 6 to 7. That is middle-of-the-road hardness: comfortable in pendants and earrings, and in rings worn with some care. Store it apart from harder stones so it does not pick up scratches, and wipe it with a damp cloth rather than scrubbing.
Whoever you buy jade from, make sure of three things: the stone is natural rather than lab-grown, glass or glass-filled; any treatment is stated in writing; and the weight quoted is the weight of the finished stone. We check every jade for those three points before it is listed, a certificate is available on request, and because you pay on delivery you can look at the stone — or have it tested — before any money changes hands.
