Start with what is usual in the trade. Malachite is soft, so the surface is routinely sealed with wax or resin. A careful buyer asks whether a given stone has had that finish, and how much the surface relies on it.

For this 28.25 carat piece, GS-000314, the same applies: such a finish is common, and you can message +92 308 887 3888 to hear what we hold on this one. Independent lab testing can be arranged on request.

What we can state without hedging is what you will see. The stone is deep green with swirling bands, opaque, with a silky face. It is priced at Rs. 3,150, which works out to about Rs. 112 per carat. Malachite's hardness is 3.5 to 4 on the Mohs scale, so scratches are a real possibility with careless wear.

Wear it as a pendant or in a ring that is kept for quieter occasions. After wearing, wipe it with a soft dry cloth, and keep it away from acids, hot water and ultrasonic cleaners. See other pieces in the malachite category.

On the Mohs scale malachite rates 3.5 to 4. That makes it soft for a gemstone, better suited to pendants, earrings and rings for special occasions than to a daily ring. Keep it away from perfume, cleaning products, steam and ultrasonic cleaners, and polish it with a dry, soft cloth after wear.
