Description
Small stones like this 3.6 carat moh-e-najaf can be easy to underestimate. The weight is modest, but the stone is quartz, hard at 7 on the Mohs scale, and the tiny inclusions inside give it a distinct look when held up to light.
What is it, exactly?
Moh-e-najaf is quartz with fine inclusions, the kind trade circles call rutilated quartz. The name is widely used in Pakistan, and in tradition the stone is associated with Najaf and is worn by many for personal or devotional reasons. That is custom, not a claim about effects.
Is it a good ring stone?
For its size, yes. A slim silver band or a ladies' ring suits it well, and the hardness is more than enough for daily wear with ordinary care.
What does it cost?
Rs. 1,350, which is about Rs. 375 per carat. Reference GS-MO-0002.

This particular stone
This listing is one natural moh-e-najaf with a weight of 3.6 Carat. Its price is Rs. 1,350 — roughly Rs. 375 for each carat. Treatment: treatment not tested. Quote reference GS-MO-0002 when you message us about it. The photographs show this exact stone, so what arrives at your door is the piece you chose on screen.
Between two and six carats is the range most people choose for a gents' ring or a noticeable pendant. Here colour drives the price more than size does, which is why two stones of near-identical weight can be priced very differently.
On the Mohs scale moh-e-najaf rates 7. It handles daily wear, but a hard knock can still nick an exposed corner, so a protective setting is a sensible choice. Clean it with warm soapy water and a soft brush, and keep it away from abrasive cleaners and high heat.
Whoever you buy moh-e-najaf from, make sure of three things: the stone is natural rather than lab-grown, glass or glass-filled; any treatment is stated in writing; and the weight quoted is the weight of the finished stone. We check every moh-e-najaf for those three points before it is listed, a certificate is available on request, and because you pay on delivery you can look at the stone — or have it tested — before any money changes hands.
