What the stone is: a natural purple sapphire, sold in Pakistan as a form of neelam, rated 9 on the Mohs scale. That hardness makes it practical for rings, because it resists scratches from daily wear far better than amethyst, which it can resemble in colour but not in toughness.

On treatment, purple sapphire tends to be heated for colour, while untouched stones are the exception, so a buyer should ask rather than assume. We will tell you what we know about this particular piece, and an independent laboratory can test it on request.

If you are comparing, the purple sapphire category lists other stones with their weights, so you can see where a price like this sits. Cash on Delivery lets you open the parcel and look at the stone before you pay.

Order with Cash on Delivery anywhere in Pakistan: open the parcel, check the stone, then pay. If it is not right for you, you have 7 days to return it. Before you choose, read our purple sapphire guide.
