Description
Tanzanite is a stone with no long Pakistani trading tradition; it only came to market in the late twentieth century, found in a small area of northern Tanzania. Because it is a newer gem, buyers here usually know it by its English name, and it is often chosen as a rarer alternative to blue sapphire in a ring or pendant.
This piece weighs 5.8 carats and is a natural tanzanite from Tanzania. Colour is blue-violet. The price is Rs. 13,130, which works out to about Rs. 2,264 per carat.
Tanzanite is nearly always fired to bring out that blue-violet colour, a steady and accepted practice, so it is not a reason to avoid the stone, but you should know it. If you would like us to say more about this exact piece, message +92 308 887 3888, or ask for independent lab testing.
One practical point: tanzanite measures 6 to 7 on the Mohs scale, softer than sapphire. It is better suited to pendants, earrings and occasional rings than to a ring worn all day. Reference GS-000473. Others are listed under tanzanite.
Pay Cash on Delivery once you have opened the parcel and seen the stone yourself, anywhere in Pakistan, with 7 days to return it if you change your mind. Before you choose, read our tanzanite guide.
This particular stone
This listing is one natural tanzanite with a weight of 5.8 Carat. Its price is Rs. 13,130 — roughly Rs. 2,264 for each carat. Origin: Tanzania. Treatment: treatment not tested. Quote reference GS-000473 when you message us about it. The photographs show this exact stone, so what arrives at your door is the piece you chose on screen.
Between two and six carats is the range most people choose for a gents' ring or a noticeable pendant. Here colour drives the price more than size does, which is why two stones of near-identical weight can be priced very differently.
On the Mohs scale tanzanite rates 6 to 7. That is middle-of-the-road hardness: comfortable in pendants and earrings, and in rings worn with some care. Store it apart from harder stones so it does not pick up scratches, and wipe it with a damp cloth rather than scrubbing.
Whoever you buy tanzanite from, make sure of three things: the stone is natural rather than lab-grown, glass or glass-filled; any treatment is stated in writing; and the weight quoted is the weight of the finished stone. We check every tanzanite for those three points before it is listed, a certificate is available on request, and because you pay on delivery you can look at the stone — or have it tested — before any money changes hands.
