Gemstone Gifts in Pakistan: Choosing a Stone Someone Will Keep تحفے کے لیے قیمتی پتھر
In short: Choose a gemstone gift by the person first, then the occasion, then your budget. Elders often value a gemstone tasbih, a wife or sister may like her birthstone or favourite colour, and a husband, father or brother the classic silver ring with aqeeq or feroza. A natural gemstone is a gift people keep for decades and often pass on.
A natural gemstone is a gift people keep for decades and often pass on. It also suits Pakistani occasions well: birthdays, nikah and walima, Eid, a new job, a graduation or a parent's retirement. This guide helps you choose a stone for the person, the moment and your budget, and tells you when to order so it arrives in time.

Traditional belief vs gemmology: anything on this page about luck, protection, planets, healing or religious tradition describes traditional and cultural beliefs — not proven effects, religious rulings or medical advice. A stone's identity, hardness, treatment and origin are gemmology, which a lab can test; the references at the end of the page cover that side.
Start with the person
For your mother or an elder
A gemstone tasbih is the gift many elders value most, because it is used every day. Pearl (Moti), amethyst, aqeeq and Dur-e-Najaf are all popular. See our tasbih collection and the guide on which tasbih stone to choose.
For your wife or sister
Her birthstone is a safe and personal choice; our birthstones by month page lists them. Colour is the other route: ask what she wears most and match it from our colour pages. Emerald, ruby, amethyst and opal are favourites.
For your husband, father or brother
A silver ring with a stone is the classic men's gift in Pakistan. Aqeeq and Feroza are the most common; Neelam, Yaqoot and Pukhraj suit men who follow astrological traditions. See gemstone ring for men.
For a friend or colleague
A smaller loose stone with a clear story works well: a Swat-region emerald, a Kohistan peridot or a stone tied to their zodiac sign from our zodiac gemstones pages.
Then the occasion
- Birthday: the birthstone for their month, or their rashi stone.
- Nikah, walima and anniversaries: see our nikah and wedding gifts guide.
- Ramadan and Eid: tasbih, Eidi and family gifts in our Ramadan and Eid gifts guide.
- New job, exams or a new business: many families give Pukhraj or citrine, stones traditionally linked with success and good fortune. Our confidence and success page explains the traditions.
- A new baby: a small birthstone kept until the child is older is a thoughtful start.
Set a budget
A good natural gemstone does not have to be expensive. Browse by price: under 5,000 rupees, 5,000 to 20,000, 20,000 to 50,000 or over 50,000. Our post on natural gemstones under 5,000 rupees covers the best value stones, and the monthly price guide shows typical ranges by stone.
Loose stone, ring or tasbih?
A loose stone is the safest gift when you do not know the person's ring size or taste; they can set it in the metal and style they want. A ring is more personal and ready to wear; we set the stones we sell in 925 silver to order, so you will need the ring size (see the ring size guide and our stone setting service). A tasbih needs no size and suits almost any elder.
When to order
Loose stones and ready items are dispatched in 1 to 2 working days and take about 7 working days to arrive by insured tracked courier. For a loose stone, order at least ten days before the date. A ring takes extra time to make, which we confirm on WhatsApp, so order earlier still. Before Eid and in the wedding season couriers are busy, so leave a few spare days.
Presenting the gift
A gemstone means more when the person knows what it is. Write a short card with the stone's name in English and Urdu, its weight, and why you chose it: their birth month, a favourite colour, or the occasion. If you request a certificate, include it. For a loose stone, a small note saying it can be set in a ring later helps the recipient decide what to do with it. Our gemstone names in Urdu and English page gives the right names.
Making sure it is genuine
A gift that turns out to be glass is worse than no gift. Every stone we sell is natural, each listing shows its own photo and weight, and known treatments are disclosed. A certificate is available on request, and independent lab testing can be arranged; see lab-certified gemstones. With Cash on Delivery the parcel can be opened and inspected before paying, and loose stones carry our 7-day return policy.
A note on beliefs
Many gemstone traditions, from birthstones to Vedic astrology, attach meanings to stones. They make a gift more personal, but they are beliefs held by many families, not promises of any result.
