What the lab checks on amethyst
- Natural or synthetic: hydrothermal synthetic quartz is separated using twinning patterns under polarised light and infrared spectroscopy.
- Heating: amethyst heated to yellow becomes citrine; the lab can comment on this for golden stones.
- Dye: crackled quartz dyed purple, mainly in beads.
- Look-alikes: purple glass and purple sapphire are separated by refractive index.
How to request a report
Pick any stone from our amethyst collection and send its link on WhatsApp +92 308 887 3888. We explain the testing steps for that stone, and you see the report before you pay. The same applies to citrine, purple sapphire and kunzite. Read more on lab-certified gemstones.
