If you want a colourless stone for a slim silver band or a simple ladies' ring, 5.3 carats of white topaz is a practical choice. It is large enough to be noticed, yet small enough to wear daily without feeling heavy.

Why people choose white topaz

White topaz is a clear, colourless gem that gives the look of a bright stone at a far gentler price. This one costs Rs. 4,880, about Rs. 921 per carat. Its Mohs hardness of 8 is dependable for a ring, though topaz can chip if an edge is hit hard.

Between two and six carats is the range most people choose for a gents' ring or a noticeable pendant. Here colour drives the price more than size does, which is why two stones of near-identical weight can be priced very differently.

On the Mohs scale white topaz rates 8. Few materials will scratch it, so it copes well with everyday ring wear. A soak in warm water with a drop of mild soap and a soft brush keeps it bright; skip the ultrasonic cleaner if inclusions reach the surface.
