Libra Gemstones: Opal and White Sapphire برج میزان
In short: Libra, called Tula in Vedic astrology, is ruled by Venus, and its classical stone is diamond. We do not sell diamonds, so for Libra we suggest opal, which tradition names for Tula, or white sapphire, the closest diamond substitute. White topaz is a further option many buyers choose, traditionally first worn on a Friday morning.

Traditional belief vs gemmology: anything on this page about luck, protection, planets, healing or religious tradition describes traditional and cultural beliefs — not proven effects, religious rulings or medical advice. A stone's identity, hardness, treatment and origin are gemmology, which a lab can test; the references at the end of the page cover that side.
Primary stone: opal or white sapphire
Diamond (Heera) is the primary Venus gem in jyotish, and opal is listed for Libra in the same tradition. Opal is the stone most Libra buyers ask us for, shown in Ethiopian and Australian categories. White sapphire is the closest substitute for diamond; ask on WhatsApp, or look through our sapphire listings.
Secondary stone: white topaz
White topaz is clear and bright and is worn by many families as a Venus stone. White zircon is also named as a substitute. Venus is traditionally linked with love, marriage, comfort and the arts.
How the Venus stone is traditionally worn
- Finger: middle or ring finger.
- Metal: silver, white gold or platinum.
- Day: first worn on a Friday morning.
In most readings Venus stones are kept apart from yellow sapphire (Pukhraj).
What to check when buying
- For opal, confirm it is a solid stone, not a doublet or triplet, and not synthetic.
- Look for play of colour that changes as you turn the stone.
- For a white stone, ask whether it is sapphire, topaz, zircon or glass, and whether it is natural.
- Known treatments should be disclosed. Read how we check every stone.
Our guide wearing opal covers opal in more detail.
Budget
Opal is priced on its play of colour, body colour and size. Compare it across the 5,000 to 20,000 and 20,000 to 50,000 filters. White topaz is often in the Under 5,000 filter.
Care
Opal is soft and can crack with sudden heat; keep it out of hot water and sunlight on a car dashboard. White topaz is hard but can split if knocked. See our gemstone care guide.
